Portable aerating apparatus comprises an aerating head 1 detachably connected to a valve body 19 screwed to a compressed gas bottle 22, the head 1 being provided with a plunger 26 actuated by a finger-lever 27 to open the valve 24. To the head 1 is also attached a support 3 for holding a bottle 4 into which depends an aerating tube 12, there being a safety valve 31 which operates automatically when a predetermined pressure exists in the bottle and which can also be released manually by the lever 33. The valve body 19 also has a safety valve or blow-out disc 29. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the inlet passage is at the side of the valve body 19 to enable it to be attached to a commercial gas cylinder having a laterally directed outlet.
