Abstract

A paper for use in forming infusion bags and the like is formed from synthetic fibres selected from a group consisting of nylons, polyesters and/or polyolefines and fixed together e.g. by oven treatment or hot calendering. The paper can be made on conventional machines. Orientation of filaments may be obtained by blowing the fibres into a mixing chamber in which they are agitated by an air stream. The fibres may be drawn on to the machine screen by air suction. The paper is subjected to a washing operation or boil-off bath. The fibres are of a material having a melting point of at least 400 DEG F. Their diameters vary from 0.0003 inch-0.00025 inch and the paper thickness is between 0.0014 inch and 0.0025 inch.
