[Also in Division B8] A conveying or driving belt comprises a flexible mesh construction, either alone or embedded in rubber, which is formed by a series of sections, wherein each section is composed of an endless loop 1 of multiply elongated material, e.g. laminated flat wire or multistrand round wire, which is looped around transverse pins Z in a twin figure of eight formation so as to present two spaced loops at one end of the section, and a single loop at the other end of the section having the same number of plies or strands as the total of the two loops at the opposite end, the pins being adapted to receive complementary loops of adjacent sections so that a continuous belt structure can be formed. Additional transverse pins W may be provided intermediate the pins Z so that the multiply material is looped in multiple twin figure of eight formation. Each section is wound from a single strip or wire 2 passed repeatedly around the loop, the ends 8 being suitably arranged as shown to prevent unwinding. A belt of any desired width may be formed as shown in Fig. 3 by the juxtaposition side by side of a number of sections having common transverse pins. The latter are preferably of multistrand wire 3, Fig. 4, stiffened by tinning at their ends 4, and on which are provided plain or grooved sleeve T to receive the strip or wire.
