Abstract

967,328. Epicyclic gearing. M. A. MULLER. March 7, 1962 [March 27, 1961], No. 8817/62. Heading F2D. A compound epicyclic gear has two mechanical branches I and II in which the first ring gear 7 drives the second rim gear 13 and both planet carriers 5, 16 are connected to the output shaft 12, a variable hydrostatic gear 21, 24 is connected between the second ring gear 17 and the output shaft 12. In a modification, Fig. 2, the two branches I and II are arranged concentrically round the output shaft 12 and a reversing gearing 27 is incorporated to provide the same direction of rotation of the planet carriers 5 and 16. In another modification a second hydrostatic pump is driven from the first ring gear and connected to the motor 24 to provide smaller reduction ratios and two fixed gear ratios corresponding to either pump being set for zero effort on the motor.
