Abstract

967,302. Containers for needles; packaging. GILLETTE INDUSTRIES Ltd. June 14, 1961 [July 28, 1960], No. 26267/60. Headings B8C and B8P. [Also in Division A5] A container for a hypodermic needle comprises a plastics tube 11, with an end 12 of greater diameter. The tube forms a shoulder 13 for the adaptor 6 of the needle to rest upon. The open end 12 has flanges 15, increasing in diameter to form a tab 16 and has a groove 17, forming a circular tearing line to facilitate opening. The end is closed by a transparent sheet member 19 comprising a domed portion 20 and a flange 21 secured to the flange 15. The adaptor 6 which projects above the flanges 15 to facilitate engagement with the syringe, has projecting wings 9 and the container 12 has ribs 14 which engage between the wings to limit rotation between the needle and the casing. The containers 10 can be joined together by weakened bridges 22 (not shown) for storing or enclosed between opposed strips of paper.
