Abstract

966,392. Poultry houses; battery cages. A. G. L. WILSON. March 11, 1963 [Jan. 1, 1962], No. 70/62. Heading A1M. A poultry house comprises spaced pillars 10-13 supporting triangular roof trusses 14, 15 arranged so as to provide ventilating openings 17 controlled by pivoted shutters 18. Extending laterally across the roof members 14 are cross members 40 from which extend suspension members 19 bridged by ties 36 on which cages 25 are supported. The members 19 are vertically adjustable to allow adjustment of the heights of the cages, and have extensions 20 which support additional cages 22. In a modification the roof decks are carried by a number of pairs of pillars spaced apart so that the upper end of one pillar engages the upper end of a roof deck and the upper end of the other pillar in the pair engages the lower end of the adjacent roof deck. Droppings from the cages may fall on to a conveyer as described in Specification 950,268. Specification 966,391 also is referred to.
