Abstract
965,204. Sail battens. CARLTON TYRE SAVING CO. Ltd. July 15, 1963, No. 27874/63. Heading B7V. A sail batten 1 moulded in a plastic material with ribs 3 such that when sufficient end load is applied the batten will form a curve, is characterized in that if the length of the batten is L and the end load is sufficient to cause one end (9) of the batten to take up a position between 80 degrees (at 28) and 90 degrees (at 29) from its relaxed position the base of the curve will be between 0.9 L and 0.75 L and with a length of base within these limits the height of the curve at 0.15 L will be between 0.15 L and 0.25 L and the height of the curve at 0.5 L will be less than the height at 0.15 L and be between 0.1 L and 0.2 L and the centre line of the curved batten on its convex side 34 has no concavities and on its concave side 33 has no convexities.
