964,165. Endless conveyers. FR. HESSER MASCHINENFABRIK A.G. April 3, 1963 [June 12, 1962], No. 13137/63. Heading B8A. An apparatus for delivering articles 1 in spaced relationship on an endless push plate conveyer 9, 10 from abutting relationship on an endless belt conveyer 2 comprises a vertical pusher 4 which elevates the leading abutting article 1a above the end 5 of a fixed plate 6 and permits a push member 9 of the conveyer 9, 10 to pass between the end 5 and the pusher 4 and push an article 1 previously deposited on the plate 6, along the same. The belt conveyer 2 is continuously driven and slides relative to the articles during their stoppage. The top surface of the pusher 4 is narrower in the longitudinal direction of the conveyer than that of each article and hence when elevated above the stop face 5 the article 1a is moved forward over the said face by the succeeding article 1 until that article abuts the pusher 4. Upon lowering the pusher 4 the forward end of the article 1a engages the top of the plate 6 and is pushed thereon completely by the succeeding article 1 which moves into abutment with the stop face 5 when the pusher is completely lowered. The pusher 4 is fixed to two swinging arms 7 and is vertically controlled by a driven cam plate 8. A detector 14, Fig. 2 (not shown), operates when insufficient articles arrive at the pusher end of the belt 2, to electromagnetically operate a pivotable catch 13 which hold the pusher 4 in its elevated position.
