Abstract

963,803. Container closures. OWENSILLINOIS GLASS CO. March 14, 1963 [March 16, 1962], No. 10085/63. Heading B8T. [Also in Divisions A5, E2 and F2] A non-circular cap 20 for a container 10 is retained thereon by a flexible sleeve 25 having a rim 27 which mates with a rim 23 on the cap to hold it against a shoulder 13 on the container. The flexible sleeve, which may originally be cirular, is telescoped over the cap, and as the latter is applied to the container the sleeve is rotated so that threads 26 thereon mate with threads 14 on the container neck to retain the cap in position. The container 10 may be a liquid dispenser with a rotatable ellipsoidal applicator 17 which is held in its closed position by resilient ribs 24 on the cap. The sleeve may be of thermoplastics material such as low-density polyethylene, and the container of glass or thermoplastics material.
