Abstract

<PICT:0963708/C6-C7/1> <PICT:0963708/C6-C7/2> A rack to support articles in electrolytic baths, especially anodizing with chromic and sulphuric acid, is made of a good electrically conducting material, e.g. Al or Cu, covered with a coating of titanium. A titanium tube may be heated and filled with molten aluminium and then cooled, or a copper or aluminium rod sleeved with a titanium tube. The inner core may be 3/4 inch diameter coated with Ti from 0.02 to 0.065 inch thick. Members 12, 13, Fig. 1, of a suitable rack are made of a central core of Al or Cu 16 cased in a titanium tube 17, which members are joined together by rings 18, 19 welded together with their axes at right angles, and having locking screws 25. The ring members are preferably made of or coated with titanium. Articles to be anodized are suspended from hook members 29. In another form, Fig. 4, articles are suspended on flexible prongs 51, 52 extending radially and horizontally or inclined from collar members 45, 46 clamped to a vertical member 39 which consists of a titanium tube casing an aluminium or copper rod. In a further form, a cylindrical perforated drum is used to hold the articles and is provided with a central bar member of similar construction to member 39, Fig. 4.
