[Also in Division B5] A hook or eye tape 1 is stiffened by applying a thermoplastic lining or coating 10 to the fold in the garment receiving the free edge of the tape and/or a stiffening 3 to folds formed in the tape itself. The stiffening composition may be adhesive to secure the tape to the garment fabric. Ironing tools, heated rollers, radiant heaters or high frequency heating equipment may be used to soften t h e thermoplastic material, which may be polyethylene or polyvinyl chloride.
