Abstract

962,888. Liquid/liquid contacting. METALLGESELLSCHAFT A.G. March 15, 1963 [March 15, 1962; May 26, 1962], No. 10442/63. Heading C1C. A multistage contactor comprises mixing chambers M and settling chambers T with pumps 5 which circulate the liquids. Each mixing chamber is located above the settling chamber of the same stage and level with the settling chamber of the next stage. Light liquid is introduced via inlet 17 and leaves via weir 14 while heavier liquid enters at 18 and leaves at 7 under the control of phase boundary regulator 8. Figs. 4-6 (not shown), depict a modified non-turbulent contactor.
