[Also in Division B1] Plutonium oxalate is formed as a precipitate from a solution of plutonium nitrate in nitric acid when a solution of oxalic acid in water is added. The mixture is first heated to 80‹C. and mixed. Subsequently it is cooled, washed, and the settled precipitate pumped out of the base of the apparatus.
