Abstract

959,659. Life belts. I. J. NAYAR. April 22, 1963, No. 15805/63. Heading B7U. A life belt comprises a band 1, means 4 for fastening together the free ends thereof, a set of pockets 12<SP>1</SP>, a pneumatic chamber 13 in each pocket, a gas container 8 having a valve (actuated by a hand wheel 8<SP>1</SP>) and a valve head 16, a gas inlet 14 on each pneumatic chamber, a gas conduit 15, 15<SP>1</SP> extending from each chamber to the valve head, the pneumatic chambers being folded within said pockets when in inoperative position, each pocket having a catch member 18 connected (via a line 19) to the container valve, the catch members defining closure means for the pockets and being releasable by the actuation of the valve opening means 8<SP>1</SP> for opening the pockets and releasing the pneumatic chambers.
