[Also in Division B1] In a diffusion process, fusion between two concentric containers 10, 12 maintained at a high temperature is prevented by inserting between the containers platinum, or some such metal or alloy having the required characteristics found in platinum, in, e.g., the form of a coil 12, rings or sleeves, and to obviate subsequent contact between the containers. The inner and outer containers may be tubes manufactured from quartz and aluminous porcelain respectively.
