959,277. Gravity-separation apparatus. G.K.N. GROUP SERVICES Ltd. Oct. 5, 1961 [July 6, 1960], No. 22689/60. Heading BID. Liquid dielectric flows at 16, Fig. 1, from the work tunk 11 of a spark machining apparatus 12, 13 into a reservoir chamber 18, whence it is pumped (19) at 15, freed from carbon and metal particles, back to the work tank. In the chamber 18 are disposed several units 20, one of which is shown in Fig. 2, each unit incorporating a number of open-topped vertical cells the walls of which are made preferably of imperforate sheet metal but alternatively of gauze. Where the cell walls are imperforate the liquid therein stagnates, permitting deposition of solids; where the cell walls are of gauze, lateral flow of liquid may occur, the solids again being retained in the cells.
