Abstract
958,952. Refrigerators. T. G. LAIDLAW. June 20, 1960 [June 19, 1959], No. 21142/59. Heading F4H. A fitting for the top of a refrigerator or like cabinet having openings at the top through which articles may be removed comprises guides 11 straddling the openings and a support platform 12 movable along the guides from one side of the cabinet to the other side, so that, when in its left-hand position, access is afforded to the right-hand side of the cabinet and when in its right-hand position, access is afforded to the left-hand side of the cabinet. The openings may be covered by hinged doors 1. The support 12 has sliding or rolling means at its base which co-operate with guide rails 11. Each rail may be mounted on a batten 14 removably secured to the cabinet top. Alternatively, the rails 11 may be permanently secured to the cabinet top by welding, brazing or adhesion or the rails may be integral with the cabinet top. The rails may be of bulbous or T-head section, the sliding or rolling means having underhung elements whereby they are prevented from lifting off the rails.
