Abstract
958,705. Envelopes. CHAPMAN & CO. (BALHAM) Ltd. Feb. 14, 1963 [Feb. 14, 1962], No. 5683/62. Heading B6A. An envelope for postal transmission at a reduced rate is made from a blank comprising side panels 5 and 6, Fig. 1, folded on to the main panel 1, and having extensions 7 and 8 which form in the superimposed position of the side panels a tongue T, Fig. 3, the tongue being covered by the inspection flap 2 when in the closed position. The tongue which is directed to face the bottom sealing flap 3 is adapted to pass through a slot 9 in the inspection flap to secure the flap in a releasable manner. The envelope may be filled at either end by hand or a machine. For hand filling the bottom flap 3 is already sealed and the inspection flap 2 left open (Fig. 4, not shown) and self-adhesive gum for sealing a part of the folded over tongue T may be used in preference to re-moistened gum.
