957,936. Portable drilling machines. GESELLSCHAFT FUR LINDE'S EISMASCHINEN A.G. Feb. 1, 1963 [Feb. 2, 1962], No. 4148/63. Heading B3C. A portable drill comprises two concentric spindles 4, 8 driven at different speeds by a fluid pressure or electric motor 14. As shown, a compressed air motor shaft 1 has gear teeth thereon, meshing with planet wheels 2 which co-operate with an internal gear 3 to drive spindle 4. Spindle 4 has teeth 4d meshing with planet wheels 6 which co-operate with an internal gear 7 to drive spindle 8 at a lower speed than spindle 4. Chuck 5 or 9 can be carried by spindle 4 or 8, and can be removed by unscrewing a nut 12. The motor has three speeds which are controlled by a clip 13 having three bores 15-17, and three projections 21, the exhaust passages 18-20 of the motor being selectively opened or closed by rotation of the clip.
