Abstract

956,643. Moulding hollow articles. METAL BOX CO. Ltd. April 11, 1963 [June 6, 1962], No. 21934/62. Heading B5A. In a method of simultaneously making a tube and a godet (a cup), which is to be a sliding fit in the tube, organic thermoplastic material, such as polypropylene, is injected through a centre gate in a two-part mould, the mould cavity being such that the godet 6 is formed axially aligned with the tube 5 and is connected with one end thereof by a rupturable diaphragm 7. The godet 6 is located within the confines of the end 9 of the tube which portion of the tube is divergent from the diaphragm 7. The outer face of the godet is also made slightly divergent from the open end to the closed end thereof. The diaphragm 7 may be ruptured by a sharp blow from a punch, or as the mould is opened.
