Abstract

Cylindrical structures of high melting point metals, e.g molybdenum, tungsten, tantalum, or niobium, are formed by sintering together a plurality of parts each in the form of a sector of a cylinder. The parts are themselves formed of compressed powder, sintered either prior to, or at the same time as, their sintering together, and may be provided both with correspondingly shaped portions at their mutually abutting surfaces, and with additional metal foil or powder at these surfaces.
