Abstract
The invention comprises compounds of general formula: <FORM:0955774/C2/1> in which S represents carboxylic acid acyl, alkoxy or hydroxyalkyl substitution and X represents a halogen atom; and their preparation by condensing a compound of formula: <FORM:0955774/C2/2> wherein Y is halogen or alkoxy, or a salt thereof, with a compound of formula: <FORM:0955774/C2/3> or a salt thereof. Other salts of the products are mentioned. Specification 596,867 is referred to.ALSO:Poultry feeds contain, admixed with nutrient material, pyrimidylmethyl-pyridinium salts of general formula <FORM:0955774/A5-A6/1> in which S represents carboxylic acid acyl, alkoxy or hydroxyalkyl substitution and X represents a halogen atom; the compounds may also be contained in drinking water. Solid and liquid carriers and premixes are mentioned. The compounds act against coccidiosis and are growth promoting; administration in conjunction with sulphaquinoxaline and with thiamin is mentioned. Specification 596,867 is referred to.
