[Also in Division B3] A tool support for portable power tools such as electric welding guns, nut running machines &c. comprises a frame adapted to be carried from an overhead member, a bell crank lever pivoted to the frame for swinging movement about a horizontal pivot, the short arm of the bell crank being connected to a spring secured to the frame, and the long arm having a connection for suspending the tool therefrom. Frame 1 pivots a bell crank lever 5 at 4 the arm 6 of which has an extension 6(a) secured thereto, and is of a length several times that of the arms 7. A plate 7a is welded across arms 7, and a bracket 10a is welded to bracket 1; which carries pivots 9 for a platen 8 carried by an arm 12 pivoted to arms 7 by a pin 13. Two coaxial springs 11 are carried by arm 12 and the tension in the springs is adjustable by a nut 15. Pin 13 is carried in a block 16, through which passes a screw 17 threaded into a block 18 carried on pin 14, and by rotating screw 17, pin 13 can be moved in slots 19 in the lever to vary the effective length of arms 17. The tool support may be rigidly secured to a roller carriage 23, arranged to run along a girder 24 which in turn can run on girders 26, and the weight of the tool 20 may be counter balanced by the control gear 27 of the tool being carried by a bracket 28. A pulley system or linkage may be connected between the tool and the long arm of the bell crank.
