Abstract

955,161. Diamond tools. SUPER-CUT Inc. July 10, 1961 [July 11, 1960], No. 24921/61. Heading B5E. In a tool comprising a shank 22 having a notch 42 in one end, and a metal insert 26 carrying a diamond 30 and seating in the notch, the diamond has a face 70 offset from the shank so that the face may be applied to a polishing tool without interference by the shank. The insert is silver soldered to the shank. To permit the diamond to be repolished the face 32 of the shank may be ground or a shim or shims may be inserted between the face 46 of the notch and a face 62 of the insert. In a modified construction (Fig. 5a, not shown) shims fitted between the face 44 of the notch and the face 54 of the insert may be removed to increase the offset.
