954,808. Optical objectives. C. G. WYNNE. July 4, 1962 [July 10, 1961], No. 24995/61. Heading G2J. The objective comprises five components of which the outer components 6, 7 are convergent elements, the middle component 8 is a biconcave element and the components 9,10 are both meniscus concave towards the element 8. In this objective the curvature of each air-glass surface in each of the components 9,10 is less than 2P, when P is the power of the objective, the curvature of the near surface of element 7 is less than 1. 5P and the sum of the curvatures of the front surface of element 6 and the rear surface of element 7 is less than 3P, curvatures being taken as positive in each case. Preferably the curvature of the front surface of element 6 is less than 1.5P and the sum of the curvatures of the two surfaces of element 8 is less than 3. 3P.
