953,337. Opening bottles. R. O. LIGHTFOOT. May 16, 1960, No. 17254/60. Heading B8T. [Also in Division F2] A gas cork remover comprises a housing 10 for a gas container 22 which is pierced by a member 17 on mounting the container in the housing. The member 17 has a through passage 18 whose end forms a seat for a spring loaded valve closure 19 formed on the end of a discharge needle 40 which is inserted through the cork. A lateral passage 42 leads into the needle which is moved away from the seat against the spring loading by a lever 56 to dispense the gas into the bottle. In a modification the end of the needle forms the piercer which deforms the gas container to form the valve seat.
