953,062. Control of motors. H. G. C. FAIRWEATHER. (Singer Manufacturing Co.). Oct. 13, 1960, No. 35059/60. Heading H2J. [Also in Division G3] The bridge circuit for controlling a series commutator motor described in Specification 953,061 is modified in that the adjustable leg of the bridge now comprises an inductor 12 and capacitor 11 in series and tuned to the A.C. supply frequency. The capacitor is shunted by a potentiometer 13 which controls the phasing of the voltage applied to the electrode 22 of the silicon controlled rectifier 17 and hence controls the speed of the motor. A resistor 23 prevents misfiring of the rectifier due to commutator sparking peaks, which also are reduced by a capacitor 24.
