952,013. Fuel cells. ESSO RESEARCH & ENGINEERING CO. April 16, 1962 [April 17, 1961], No. 14643/62. Heading H1B. A fuel cell consuming liquid fuel is supplied with excess fuel which is evaporated to cool the cell, extracted, purified, condensed and recirculated. A battery with bi-polar plates and supply and evacuation pipes is disclosed and a modified cell (Fig. 2) has a wick 117 supplying fuel from a trough 116. The excess fuel is removed at 118 and the oxidant is supplied at 119. The electrodes 101, 104 are bi-polar and are joined by a connector plate 107.
