Abstract

951,593. Advancing mine roof supports. RHEINSTAHL WANHEIM G.m.b.H. June 10, 1960, No. 20539/60. Heading E1E. An advancing mine roof support comprises two support frames A, B coupled to a guide rail 24 which is connected to the footplates 3, 4, 17, 18 of the props 1, 2, 15, 16 by spacers 22 and vertical guide members 21. Each support frame is provided with a rack 27 embracing the guide rail, each rack having limited vertical movement on the guide members 21 and being longitudinally advanced by a portable compressed air or electric motor driving through gear means 31, 32 slidable on the racks. The racks carry brackets to engage stops on the rail 24 in order to entrain same during their advance, see Fig. 2 (not shown). In a modification, the guide rail 24 and spacers 22 are dispensed with, the two rails being supported by the housing of the transmission gear, see Figs. 8, 9 and 10 (not shown).
