Abstract

951,466. Gas burners. INSTITUT DE RECHERCHES DE LA SIDERURGIE FRANCAISE. Jan. 23, 1961 [Feb. 12, 1960], No. 2542/61. Heading F4T. A burner comprises a central tube 1 supplying gaseous fuel to a convergent divergent nozzle 2 having injection orifices 5 for a comburant gas, the nozzle being constructed so that at minimum output the gases flow through the neck at the speed of sound and so that a shock wave is evolved in the convergent part. The neck of the nozzle is cylindrical and the injection orifices 5 are disposed either in the neck or in the divergent part. A tube 4 supplying the comburant gas is inserted in a water jacket 3 surrounding the burner.
