Abstract

950,788. Collapsible decks. ORESUNDSVARVET A.B. Jan. 12, 1962 [Feb. 1, 1961], No. 1298/62. Heading B7S. A collapsible tween-deck construction comprises a number of parallel supporting beams 4 and platforms 11 resting on them. Each beam comprises two portions hingedly connected to each other at 7, the portion 5 being also hinged to a vertical wall 1, by a bracket 10, and the portion 6 is carried by a stanchion 12 swingably connected to a superimposed deck 3. The dimensions of the portions 5 and 6 are such that they may be stowed adjacent the wall and superimposed deck as illustrated in Fig. 4. The supporting beams 4 are arranged to extend in the deck forming position from the wall 1 to a position below the hatchway in the deck 3, the stanchions 12 being connected to the coaming of the hatchway and the opening in the deck below the hatchway is adapted to be filled with hatch beams. In Fig. 1 the platforms 11 are connected concertina fashion and can be stowed alongside the brackets 10; they may, however, be independent of one another. Winches are arranged above the deck 3 to move the beams and platforms.
