Abstract
In a chromium diffusion process of chromizing steel or nickel alloys so that the surface roughness is less than 0.0025 mm. the parts are packed in a powder mixture comprising chromium of a particle size of under 0.005 mm., an inactive oxide such as alumina of a particle size preferably of 0.1-0.05 mm., and less than 0.01% of a halide such as ammonium chloride, and heating to above 1000 DEG C. The chromium content of the mixture should preferably be 20%.
