949,915. Feeding webs. CUTTING ROOM APPLIANCES CORPORATION. Sept. 4, 1962 [Nov. 20, 1961], No. 33777/62. Heading B6B. [Also in Division D1] In a cloth-laying machine cloth is unwound from roll 41 and passes around roller 126, Fig. 1, on its way to the laying means. The roller 126 actuates, through lever 123 and wedge-shaped cam member 116, calliper-type brake shoes 108, 109 operating on the spindle 39 of the cloth roll 41, in accordance with the amount of cloth in the loop between the roll 41 and roller 43. The roll of cloth can be moved transversely for alignment of the edge by means shown in Fig. 3. The spindle 39 has a groove 92 which is engaged by a roller 91 mounted for slidable motion within brackets 93 on shaft 94. A chain 97 engages the brackets 93 and transmits motion from a gear 100 on a manually-operated shaft 101.
