Abstract

947,813. Wrenches. J. D. MIDDLETON. April 6, 1961, No. 12378/61. Heading B4W. A device for unscrewing clamping rings having key receiving grooves or slots therein comprises a pair of supports each carrying an axially adjustable key or keys and means for mounting the supports on an implement on which the keys may be located at an appropriate distance apart. As shown the supports 3, 4 each comprise an arm 6 for attachment to a flat carrier portion 2 of the handle 1, and perpendicularly to the arm a socket 9 in which is mounted a shank 10 carrying keys 11, 12 at one end. The screw threaded shank 10 engages the internally screw threaded socket 9 and is retained in adjusted position by a clamping nut 14. An additional key 13 is formed at the lower end of the socket 9. The support 3 is fixed to one end of the handle by screws 8 the support 4 being adjustable along the handle by means of the clamping screw 15 which extends through and is slidable in the slot 5 in the carrier 2, a nut 19 normally holding the screw 15 in position in the slot. In a modification the supports are secured to the jaws of an adjustable wrench.
