Abstract

947,659. Valves. DUNEDIN ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. June 25, 1962 [July 8, 1961], No. 24807/61. Heading F2V. A non-return valve comprises a cylindrical housing 1, 13 having a bore within which is located a flat-sided inverted poppet valve member 10, 15 which co-operates with a seat 16 at the end of the housing part 13. The movement of the valve member is limited by an adjustable flat-sided stop member 8. The part 15 of the valve member is made of resilient material and is bonded to the cup-shaped part 10 or alternatively the seat 16 may be of deformable material. The housing part 1 is screw threaded at the inlet and outlet ends 2, 3 for connection to a fitting 4 insertable into an engine cylinder or tank and to a pressure gauge respectively. A flame trap member e.g. a cylindrical metal plug having a plurality of small holes, may be located between the valve and the engine cylinder.
