Abstract
945,665. Transformers. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Aug. 7, 1962 [Aug. 9, 1961], No. 30167/62. Heading H1T. Induction apparatus such as a variable auto-transformer 10 has a winding 13 mounted on a cone 11, a brush 15 mounted on a rotatable (radiator) member 25 for picking-off current from winding 13 and a path for the current from brush 15 to the external circuit consisting of a conducting layer of material 30 on member 25, means connecting layer 30 to brush 15, a current collecting contact 31 contacting layer 30 and means connecting contact 31 to the external circuit. Layer 30 may be a split ring of material such as aluminium, copper, silver, yellow brass or silver plated yellow brass in a groove on the edge of member 25 from which it is insulated with brush 15 in the space between the ends of the split ring. Layer 30 is connected to brush 15 by wire 28 and contact 31 is connected to the load 20 through wire 35. Contact 31 is mounted on terminal board 22. Brush 15 and contact 31 are spring-loaded.
