Abstract

Garbage, after pregrading to remove coarse material is comminuted, dried and mixed with a liquid, solid or gaseous fuel to provide a comminuted mass suitable for suspension injection into a furnace. The fuel addition is preferably such that the mass attains 1500 DEG C. on combustion, resulting in a molten end product which may be quenched to yield a granulated slag.ALSO:Garbage, after pregrading to remove coarse material, is comminuted, dried and mixed with a solid, liquid or gaseous fuel to provide a comminuted mass suitable for suspension injection into a furnace.
