Abstract

943,079. Printed circuits. NATIONAL CASH REGISTER CO. Oct. 16, 1962 [Nov. 13, 1961], No. 39120/62. Heading H1R. A printed circuit in which the conductors are flush with the surface of the dielectric panel in which they are embedded is made by adhering a sheet of conductive material to a temporary support, forming the conductive pattern from the sheet, casting uncured dielectric material around the exposed surfaces of the conductors, curing the dielectric material, and removing the temporary support. As shown, Fig. 1, a copper sheet 10 is held by suction against a perforated backing plate 11 while a mould 21 is placed on the sheet 10 and filled with casting wax 22, e.g. paraffin wax. When the wax has hardened to form a temporary support, a circuit pattern is formed from the copper sheet 10, as by acid etching; then a second mould 23, Fig. 4, is fitted over mould 21 and filled with a casting resin, 24, e.g. epoxy resin, which is then cured. The mould 23 is removed and the wax 22 is melted away.
