Abstract

938,776. Electric weighing systems. O. HOFLIGER, and R. KARG, [trading as HOFLIGER & KARG]. Aug. 21, 1961, No. 30063/61. Class 40 (1). Apparatus for producing equal weighed quantities of bulk material in a continuous sequence of vessels 1 (Fig. 17) comprises means (not shown) for loading each vessel initially, conveying the vessels 1 along a conveyer to a weighing station III, where an electronic weighing device 5 determines the additional weight of material required for each vessel, this being added at a subsequent station IV by a dispenser 6 via a hopper 2. The transducer 5 produces a phase displacement of an A.C. signal proportional to the additional weight required, which is converted to a proportional voltage by phase discriminator 11 for controlling the dispenser 6 through a magnetic amplifier 12, and a time control device 13. Modifications described include:- (a) using a separate weighing unit 4 (Fig. 19) to determine the auxiliary quantity in hopper 2, the weighing units 4, 5 producing digital signals which are compared by a counter 16. (b) Photoelectric means 19, 20 (Fig. 19a) for counting the additional quantity required when the material comprises units which can be counted. (c) Using two or more feeders and hoppers 2, controlled by weigher 5 through separate channels selected by change-over switches operated by each vessel 1 as it travels along the conveyer.
