Abstract

935,666. Radiation therapy. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. March 20, 1961 [March 23, 1960], No. 10059/61. Class 81 (2). [Also in Group XL (c)] A diathermic radiator comprises a tuned circuit of the concentric resonant line type, having an inner conductor and a cylindrical outer conductor, the outer conductor having slots therein extending transverse to the longitudinal axis of the radiator. The slots couple the radiator to the body to be heated. In a first embodiment, Figs. 1 and 2, providing an inductive radiator, inner conductor 1 is connected to outer conductor 2 by way of a coupling bracket 3. The outer conductor is slotted at 4. Block 10 increases the capacity of the assembly. In a second embodiment, Fig. 3 and Fig. 4 (not shown), a capacitive radiator is formed by mounting brass blocks 6, 7 on the conductor 1 which is insulated from the outer conductor 2. The outer conductor is slotted.
