Abstract
935,383. Turbine rotors. GASTURBINENBAU UND ENERGIEMASCHINERENTWICKLUNG PIRNA VEB. Dec. 15, 1959, No. 42523/59. Class 110 (3). A turbine rotor has a plurality. of turbine discs each having a body portion located coaxially with an adjacent disc by centering flange thereon, and each disc having co-operating bores forming cooling air conduits. Cooling air enters an axial bore 1 through a radial opening 2 and issues from radial openings 3 into the annular gap between consecutive turbine discs. The male portion 4 is formed with a flat periphery in the region of the opening 3. In another embodiment, the openings 3 take the form of circumferential slots and co-operate with sleeves in the conduits which have outlets for directing the air obliquely through the slots. A vent 8 maintains the airflow through the bore 1 and the air issuing therefrom may be used for cooling the rear disc. In turbine rotors having axial bores provided to facilitate the separation of the discs, the bores may be used as cooling air conduits.
