Abstract
935,050. Making coloured radiographs. AGFA A.G. March 8, 1962 [March 10, 1961], No. 8964/62. Class 98 (1). A method for the production of coloured radiographs consists in using a film comprising two light-sensitive silver halide emulsions on a support, the emulsions being differently sensitized, and containing different colour couplers, in which the film is exposed to form an X-ray image, and then subjected to a further non- imagewise exposure by light to which only one of the emulsion layers is sensitized. After processing, this produces a radiograph consisting of a coloured image on a differently coloured background. The two silver halide emulsions may be coated on opposite sides of the support, or one above the other on the same side. In one example, a support is coated with a panchromatically sensitized silver chloride gelatine emulsion and over this is a further silver bromide gelatine layer which is not additionally sensitized. An X-ray exposure of an object is made, and the exposed material developed. A further diffuse non-imagewise exposure is made with yellow light, followed by a further development. The resulting radiograph shows a yellow dyestuff image, against a cyan background. In a second example, the layers are on opposite sides of the support, and a final magenta image on a cyan background obtained. The constitutions of the various emulsions are specified.
