Abstract

The invention relates to therapeutic preparations comprising sitosterol with a particle size of less than 30 microns. a crystalline sugar as filler, and 1 to 4% gelatine or 0.1 to 2% methyl cellulose, based on the content of sitosterol. Coarsely-powdered sitosterol is ground with the sugar to a particle size of less than 30 microns and the ground material is mixed with water containing the gelatine or methyl cellulose. A particle size of 1-10 microns is preferred and the grinding may be done in a disc mill. Flavouring and preservative agents may be added. The sugar may be sucrose or lactose. The preparation may be administered orally.
