Abstract

934,651. Heat treatment furnaces; hearths. ANDERTON SPRINGS Ltd. Aug. 8, 1961 [May 13, 1960], No. 16943/60. Class 51 (2). In a heat treatment furnace of the kind in which small metal articles, e.g. circlips, are traversed through the furnace by an inclined jigging trough 1, the latter is flared outwardly towards the delivery end 4, and the base 5, which may be polished, is formed with longitudinal serrations or shallow ribs. The base may be parabolic in shape or may be first horizontal continuing in a series of steps of increasing downward inclination. With a ten-foot trough both the width increase and the drop may be of the order of three inches. Heating elements 14 are more closely spaced at the entry end 3 and are also disposed around the delivery shoot 15.
