Abstract

934,569. Stands. TENSION ENVELOPE CORPORATION OF KANSAS CITY. June 15, 1962, No. 23236/62. Class 52 (3). [Also in Group XV] An envelope made from a single blank comprises a front panel 2, Fig. 1, and a back panel 3, composed of side panels 16, 17, Fig. 4, articulated to the front panel 2 along folds 12, 13, respectively, and joined by an adhesive strip 20. The front and back panels define a pocket 30, having an opening 29 for insertion of a picture 45 which may be viewed through a window 5 covered by a transparent patch 41, the front panel providing a picture framing portion 14, which may be lined as at 15 to represent the mouldings of a picture frame. Attached to the front panel along folds 10 and 11 are top and bottom flaps 23, 24, respectively, forming an easel 4, Fig. 1, when the flaps 23, 24 are bent along score lines 27, 25 and are secured to the back panel 3 by gum stripes 28, 26, respectively, and then secured together by gum stripes 38, 39 on the bottom flap 24, when the flaps 23, 24 are mutually aligned along marginal edges 35 and 36. For postal transmission, the picture 45 is inserted into the envelope with its back facing the transparent patch 41, whereupon the flap 23 is folded down on to the back panel 3 to be overlapped by the flap 24 and the envelope is sealed by a gum spot 37 on the flap 24, which is also provided on its exterior surface with a mailing address area 43 (Fig. 5, not shown) and a stamp area 44, both areas being concealed from view on formation of the easel 4.
