Abstract
934,524. Hypodermic injection appliances. BOOTS PURE DRUGCO. (AUSTRALIA) PTY. Ltd., and CASECRAFT PTY. Ltd. Jan. 22, 1962 [Jan. 25, 1961], No. 2281/62. Class 81 (2). A syringe body for receiving a cartridge is made from flexible material in the form of at least two arms extending axially from an apertured disc, the arms having locating means for the cartridge on their inner surfaces. The syringe body may be made from high impact polystyrene in the form of two arms 18, 18 extending from a disc portion 12 having locating means 15 to receive the boss of a double-ended needle. Inwardly directed protuberances 19 on the side members serve to engage in the reduced neck of a standard ampoule and are so placed that the inner end of the needle does not pierce the ampoule until the latter has been pressed fully into position. The side members 18 and/or additional side extensions 17, 19 serve also to grip the walls of the ampoule to prevent lateral movement. As described with reference to Fig. 5 (not shown), a simple, double-ended needle may be located in the end of the holder by means of a conical, split collet.
