Abstract

934,237. Mineral-mining picks. MAVOR & COULSON Ltd. June 15, 1962 [June 17, 1961], No. 21970/61. Class 68 (1). To improve of the securing of a pick 21 in a pick box 10, the box 10 is provided with a pick and wedge-receiving opening having a pair of opposed, upwardly convergent walls 11, 12 that allow of, when the pick 21 has been positioned in the box for the front surface 23 thereof to abut against the front wall 11 of the opening, clamping of the pick in the box when a wedge 31 is driven down into the opening to the rear of the pick, the inter-bearing faces 11, 23, 34, 25, 32 of the pick, opening and wedge being suitably inclined with respect to each other to ensure of a satisfactory wedging action in the box.
