Abstract

933,835. Combing machines. T.M.M. (RESEARCH) Ltd. March 28, 1962 [April 4, 1961], No. 12064/61. Class 120 (1). A combing machine has a rock-shaft positioned below and behind the pivots about which the comber heads swing. Each comber head includes a frame 1 carrying upper and lower nippers 2, 3 and a feed roller 4, the frame swinging on pivots 5 when actuated by the rockshaft 6 through levers 7, 8 and link 9. Each pivot 5 is mounted in a bell-crank lever 11 pivoted about the comb cylinder shaft 12 and fixed to a beam 14 that extends along the front of the machine. By manipulating a screw jack 19 the beam 14 may be adjusted to adjust, through levers 11, the comber heads relative to the comb cylinder. The top comb 35 at each head is supported from a shaft 30 that extends the full length of the machine and is driven from the rock-shaft 6 through levers 31, 32 and adjustable link 34. Drive to the rock-shaft is from the comb cylinder shaft 12 through a crank-plate 22, connecting rod 23 and link 25.
