Abstract
933,032. Sewing; embroidery. P. E. ARLIDGE. Dec. 14, 1959, No. 15026/62. Divided out of 933,031. Class 112. [Also in Group VIII] A method of stitching consists in sewing yarn into an open weave base by successively interlacing discontinuous loops of yarn with each other and with successive strands of the base whereby said loops provide a line of chain stitches, with the ends of the last loop providing tags which may be left loose or secured to the base. As shown, individual loops 20 of yarn are interlaced by a chain-stitch formation in an open-mesh base by means of a needle N having a pair of curved and spaced-apart limbs 10, 11 terminating at one end in a point 14 and at the other end in a hooked and bulged loop 17. A loop 20 is inserted in the end 17 and the point 14 is passed beneath a cross-strand 21 of the base, the needle then being drawn upwardly to position loop 20 with its free ends 20a above and at one side of strand 21, and its closed end above and at the other side of strand 21. A second loop is then inserted in the end 17 and the point 14 is passed through the first-inserted loop 20 and under the next cross-strand 21 to position the closed end of the second loop above the latter.
