Abstract

932,762. Retaining and securing door and window handles on shafts. WILMOT-BREEDEN Ltd. March 30, 1961 [April 14, 1960], No. 13327/60. Class 80 (2). [Also in Group XXV] A handle 10 is secured on a stud or spindle 11 projecting inwardly from a vehicle door, by means of a spring clip 12 comprising a strip of metal bent to U-shape and provided on at least one limb, but preferably on both limbs, with two tongues 16, one projecting inwardly of the U and one outwardly, the tongues being integral with the clip. To assemble the handle on the spindle, the clip 12 is inserted into a bore in the handle, its outwardly projecting tongues 16 engaging in a groove 19 which communicates with said bore. The clip and handle are then pushed on to the spindle 11, the latter being formed with a groove 20 to receive the inwardly-projecting tongues 16 of the clip 12. The handle 10 further comprises a pair of holes 21 communicating with the groove 19, so that by insertion thereinto of a suitable tool, the outwardly projecting tongues 16 may be depressed prior to releasing the handle from the spindle.
